On this day…
A baby is born
and an old man dies
someone falls in love
and another's heart is spurned
a man celebrates his birthday
and another's diagnosed with cancer
a woman is proposed too
and another is violently assaulted
kids graduate from high school
and others are sentenced for life
Someone dances in the rain
And others toil in the earth
A father returns from a wars
And another perishes in a car crash
A child learns to swim
And another breaks their leg
Someone discovers inner peace
And another loses faith
A scientists makes a breakthrough
And a politician falls through
Someone learns to smile
And someone learns frown
And all the while
The world turns around
This day is someone's treasure
And for another their nosedive
The happiest of their days
Or the saddest of their lives
For On this day
The good equals the bad
And all we ever get to have
this poem has made my heart comfortable with this moment in my life thank you Kevin
Indeed, these actions are constantly occurring in a person's life, of course with different names and details. Very insightful.
Your poem is really beautiful. But i don't agree with your closing lines. Good can never equal bad. We define good or bad from the perspective of person studied. Apart from context, nothing is good nor bad. Good insightful poetry.
