On Wing Poem by Myrtle Thomas

On Wing

a bird wings in wind
loosing the song of throat
casting eye on mountain top
where beauty is ignored

seeds of flower and worm
fill the tiny sparrow
adorned by feathers of beauty
streamlined to perfection
aviation on natural wing

songs, songs heard in silent breeze
appeasing the tune to pacify
for the eye of the hawk is lurking
talons strike like fire
fly in safety, for Jehovah Knows you

he who made the mighty universe
and had a design for you
would know if you fall or suffer
so fly in the direction of the creator
for he sees the great and small
