One Not Worth My While Poem by Chantelle Nixon

One Not Worth My While

My heart is broken, my body is numb
I feel so alone, so frustrated and dumb
The gifts that I gave, and smiles I received
I had not one clue that I'd be deceived
I'm feeling one way, though he's feeling another
Can't be my boyfriend, just more like a brother
I've tried time and time to reveal how I feel
But I get too nervous; a broken heart never heals
But today I have told you. Today: Now you know.
I feel like I've lost it; my mind's starting to go
So simply, so easy, you turn away and leave
It's as if you have died, the way I constantly grieve
I feel such sorrow; I am utterly depressed
My friends just don't see they are not much impressed
But they are not me, they just don't understand
They just don't see all the things that I can
But now instead of crying and slowly melting away
I will continue to keep trying to live life day by day
I'll hold my head high and spread forth a smile
And soon I'll forget you, one not worth my while.
