One Word Poem by Edmund V. Strolis

One Word

Rating: 5.0

Pages flutter in the halls of Alexandria
Lost visions, ancient longing
Row upon row as deep as the dunes
Sculpted roof in midnight's embrace
Shimmering with stellar delight
Waves kiss your shore once more
Mediterranean wonder
Heart and soul of all we were
Tongues flush with inspiration
Secrets rise from ashes scattered
Fame's flame burns once more
Release the magic from the night
Let these pillars rise once more
Robes filled, sandals move in time
Forgotten tongues spoken clear
Beards stroked under steely eyes
Furrowed brows and sweeping gestures
Feel the rush from wings unbound
Reaching heights unknown to man
I would gladly silence them all
bury the secrets and banish their tales
I would trade this all away
without hesitation in hushed anticipation
for the music I hear in fitful dreams
for one single word from you.

This is a very beautiful write as I read it at least ten times. Yet, I don't think I understood it fully. I wish you had given us readers a small note of explanation. The concluding lines have a mysterious beauty about them. Filled with great images. (10)
