I was told so many times
That heartache hurts
But only for a little while
Until you are able to cope

I have tried to move on
In this life without him
He was taken too soon
Leaving me to feel abandoned

Is it so simple to state
That I choose to hold him close
For fear I cannot survive
Another heartache down the road

This love that I still feel
Comes but once in a lifetime
How can anyone expect for me
To minimize our shared time

I only need to take
One step and day at a time
To try and figure out when
He is dead to me inside

Until then I will continue to live
A life filled with heartache
Praying love will find me again
To replace my heartfelt sorrow
