Paint Me In Bright Colors Poem by Linda Barnes

Paint Me In Bright Colors

It starts out with lines
Painted on a grey canvas
Lines drawn in black paint
From beginning to end

As it strays from the dark
It begins to be upbeat
Knowing it only starts
With a dark side of me

Adding bright colors
Just to cover up the pain
Never changing its depth
On this grey canvas

One can make it transparent
Wanting it to come alive
However, colors will not change
What began with dark lines

Visualize me in bright colors
So calming to the soul
As it hides its beginning
Drawn in black from the start

Paint me in bright colors
Hide me from the truth
No matter where it began
Dark lines on grey canvas
