Only Love Can Hurt Like This Poem by Kevin Hulme

Only Love Can Hurt Like This

It's 4.O Clock in the morning,
With a restless mind and a new day dawning.
And I just won't get back to sleep again,
From the volume of cry's by a world full of pain.
It's a skin full of lesions now septic and deep,
Those Demons are brawling and breaking my sleep.
But more stronger in torment than the Hell set above,
Oh, If Only she knew of the depth of my Love.
War begets War as the saga moves on,
With the fire and smoke that blacken the good Sun.
Where the battlefields dew is but the tears of the lost,
And a soil rich in blood
To give weight to the cost.
But more stronger in torment than the Hell set above,
Oh, If Only she knew of the depth of my Love.
Dear Mother Amazon, now your bones are stripped bare,
For what manner of right do the butchers have there.
To ravish and cut for the timbers do drop,
For the future of all Man, this carnage would stop.
But more stronger in torment than the Hell set above,
Oh, If Only she knew of the depth of my Love.
The mighty blue ocean that girdles the Earth,
It's virtues are rare and Heaven it's worth.
But within this world of pelagic wonder and grace,
The intrusion of Man, with its plastic and waste.
But more stronger in torment than the Hell set above,
Oh, If Only she knew of the depth of my Love.
Nation upon Nation every colour and creed,
To live peaceful and free,
a birthright and need.
But with words soaked in acid and a baton in blood,
That ‘Dream' is repressed and still less understood.
But more stronger in torment than the Hell set above,
Oh, If Only she knew of the depth of my Love.
For she haunts all my dreams and wanders throughout day,
She's the reason there's joy, and wonton dismay.
For this Worlds full of Hope and incessant dull pain,
But the Love Unrequited,
Is the crazed night of the sane.
