Only There To Bark Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Only There To Bark

A barking dog with no teeth,
Regardless how loud the bark.
Remains without teeth.
Just a loud barking dog.
And the neighbors know this,
Has overstayed their patience.
Although...
Will tolerate the noise.
No matter how long the noise annoys!

No meat thrown to the dog,
To bite on it to chew...
Proves the dog is more threatened,
By what it can not do.
Without teeth to devour.
Or quiet it with evidence.

Yet...
Continues to bark as loud as possible.
Hoping this distracts,
From the truth hidden.
Openly presented.
Leaving those who run away,
Choosing to ignore,
The proof of evidence.
The dog has been taught offends.

Since...
Those who defend the dog,
With no teeth to bite...
Know the dog has been trained,
To remain there to protect.
Their kept delusions to not end.
