Oops! Forgot To Pay My Bill

Gas bill addressed
And ready to go.
But I forgot to mail it;
And the rest—you know.
It's clearly my bad.
And cost me more
Than the little I had,
Or what the bill was for.
Past Due notices
Are sent all the time.
But I've been careful
That they were not mine.
The one thing I hate
More than a bill—
Is, no doubt,
A "past due" spill.
