Our Mortality Is Our Greatest Limitation Poem by Daya Nandan

Our Mortality Is Our Greatest Limitation

Our mortality is our greatest limitation,
The single flaw that i find in our body's creation,
It pains me to know that i am now growing old and weak,
Reminiscing on my memories as the tears roll down my cheek,

So many men have lived their lives on earth only to face death,
A state of blankness of the body and mind after the last breath,
And without our consciousness we disappear from this earth,
Gone away in darkness, so many decades after our birth,

The nights of our lives will not always flame with fire,
No life span of a man can truly reach his desire,
And worse yet is that this state affects all life that we know,
Where by the curtains of death closes at the end of life's show,

It is a terrible experience watching people you know die,
After knowing them for so many decades, all we can do is cry,
It's truly tragic to know that death will always be waiting for a time,
When we slip up, perhaps fall ill to death's darkened rhyme,

But what can we do about death, it is inescapable,
Humans were never built to be forever strong and stable,
But i suppose what we can do about this curse of fate,
Is pass the beacon of knowledge before we enter death's gate,

Perhaps we could write a poem, a nice book perhaps?
Anything for the next generation to cross life's distant gaps,
Maybe someone shall read my poetry and have a glance at my mind,
Maybe pick up a thing or two, learning knowledge for mankind,

Maybe that is the only way our thoughts can break the shackles of time,
Our mind's light igniting a spark for the next generation to shine,
Our duty to bind our knowledge of life to every learning head,
The thoughts we have preserved once we are already dead,

We will be the silent voices being produced in the readers mind,
Guiding them silently to the knowledge they wish to find,
Across centuries or millenniums, our thoughts shall travel far,
Perhaps to a time when man finds a new solar star.
