Our School Holidays Poem by Monti Chaudhury

Our School Holidays

Rating: 5.0

Hurray! it's our summer holidays.
This is the only time of the year
When we thank the humid weather and the scorching rays.
We are thankful to the summer sun,
To give us time for relaxation
And have lots of fun.
We sleep a lot and plan numerous things,
We get time for our hobbies and engage with our kins.
We do internet browsing or take a stroll on a beach,
We rank ourselves as foodies and taste all cuisine.
Wo go for exclusive shopping
Or watch interesting movies;
Or engage ourselves in reading books, buying groceries and cooking new recipes.
We listen to soothing music or read adventurous stories,
We spend our vacation with zero tension and worries.

While the students are busy with their holiday homework,
We join the school much before they return.
We plan the lessons for the coming weeks
And train ourselves to manage,engross, conduct, supervise and teach.
Every fine morning we arrive at school,
But see no children playing in the ground or in the pool.
Every fine morning we enter the school gate,
But no one rushes out to wish us good morning or good day.
We miss them a lot and wish them to come back with haste.
We miss their whooping and exhilaration
While playing at the corridor.
We miss their childish fightings, rolling on the floor.

We plan our lessons carefully,
Sitting in the staffroom;
But no bell rings to remind us to go to the classroom.
We pass by the empty rooms,
Filled with desks and benches
But there are no restless children fighting for the washroom.
There are no children playing in the toy room, in their playful mood
Engrossed in a world of imagination,
Where they fly, shine and bloom.
The dining tables are well organised in the cafeteria,
But we hear no one shouting for food or expressing euphoria.

We miss our little friends
Who spend most of their time with us,
Forgetting their homes and always trying to adjust.
We teach them, we guide them and lead them to success.
At times we scold or hurt them with our words;
But undoubtedly we love them,
From the core of our hearts.
