Out Of Work And From Kanturk Poem by Francis Duggan

Down on his luck and out of work
Thousands of miles south of Kanturk
His home up to five years ago
Where the Allow waters flow.

Where the jobless are many and the jobs are few
He is one of the many who
Search for work but without success
Still he keeps searching none the less.

And though at times he does feel down
He won't be going back to Kanturk Town
For though unemployment now is everywhere
The jobless rate lower here than there.

About life there is much to know
Far from where the Allow flow
And life too has it's ups and downs
Many miles from Kanturk Town.

Out of work and in his prime
And he will find a full time job in time
And from Kanturk far, far away
But he is here for the long stay.
