Over A Crock Of Mixed Soup Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Over A Crock Of Mixed Soup

If anything in the past,
Was given and meant to be long lasting...
Very few on the receiving end,
Would today be left to complain...
About their feelings of being used,
As they stood by just to take it!

And wherever one goes...
That same story is told as if to convince,
The giving done they did was unconditional.
Until a misunderstanding drifted between two,
With a decision made to split...
Over a crock of mixed soup allowed to burn.

'Perhaps there was too much salt...
And not enough pepper to heat up the spice.'
