Over The Years Poem by David Harris

Over The Years

Rating: 5.0

It started in a small way
an abstract message or two
never thinking where it was leading
or how close I would become to you.
We were just two souls
looking out for a friend
never thinking that friendship
would eventually transpire.
The messages became less abstract
hearts poured out words to one another.
Invisible threads were weaved
into something to full fill.
Over the years we’ve become closer
bonds were firmly cemented
your family became mine
and mine became yours.
As we met, we both knew
a stronger chain had been forged.
Now we remain friends together
in everything we’ll share.
As over the years, we’ve become closer
and nothing can tear us apart
except the distance where we live.
That is just a minute distance
with a telephone call
and it will be but a short time
until we meet again next fall.

I guess this answers those who wonder if virtual life has anything to do at all with 'real' life. Thanks for sharing a true story about a real relationship..(smile)
