Overused Yet Under Utilized Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Overused Yet Under Utilized

What would life lived to be,
Without challenges, risks.
And chances to take.
Fear to accept yet not face,
Becomes the monster.
Not the reality to find this known.
Like a test to pass.
After taking it to wonder...
'How can such a small task,
Scare so many away?
Without seeing it for what it is.
Even though...
Beauty to see it,
Is in the eye of the beholder! '

Wishes and dreams,
To want with desire...
For them to come true.
Seldom are delivered.
Or told to expect them,
Free to unwrap.
Without sweat or elbow grease attached.
Accompanied by sleepless nights.
And loss of appetite.
Caused by a craving unable to ignore.
Or let go of an anticipated satisfaction!

What would life lived to be,
Without challenges, risks.
Or chances to take in the midst of danger?
A danger to be rumored.
But discovered as just another obstacle.
Overrated by others,
To be a boulder much bigger...
Than just a pile of pebbles.
That from a distance appear to be rocks.
Attempting to block one's path.

Although...
Some are born to explore and adventure.
While others are born...
To become exhausted by imaginations.
Overused yet kept under utilized.
