Padon, We Bled Poem by Ndina Kamaro Muofhe

Padon, We Bled

Yesterday routes engulfed
Identity torn estranged
Lest we forget not
How can we, to such a plot

The dawn never restored the pride
We made peace and reserved the blames
Throw our heads, such weapons in rainbowed tide
Shelved are weapons of choice as commodities
To flirt with products of fallen sweat
Communities drift in sour beverages
Wrecking strong brains, shame these ngudus bury us
Mothers and fathers lost in binges
Homes, burns within negligence
Children become victims of vulnerability
Then, within decorated fences and strong walls,
These homes die

Last cents tossed into tithing bowls
At Home, children's lips dress in grey
Why not it stopped when churches done equipped
God's beauty faded into such shows
Unless we know God moves within us,
We'll serve pastors to their wealth
Filthy, they'd splash and avow benedictions
How selective are these blessings
Does God not see you gave your all
Because if it's Faith, every heart has it solid

Pardon, sweat we bled
Nowadays, weapons shelved
With no whips on backs, back to slave
All sweat shed a fortress can build
Not dig holes to bury the next to come
