Pain Amiga Poem by Suchi Banerjee

Pain... Ah, isn't she strange?
Bold and powerful, whiny clingy,
Shameless, heedless, she has no mercy;
Try as I may, she won't
Leave my side;
Try as I may, she won't
Let me die.
She kills me, yet she sustains me;
She pushes me and yet she obstructs me.
Trouble and anger are her children,
Profound bitterness is her husband;
She is ugly... oh so ugly!
But yet, she is beautiful-
- A glorious lady!
Is it not she who bore the seeds of art?
You are a fool if you let her grasp you!
Don't...I say don't make an enemy of her!
You know how vicious she is!
Befriend her first, then mate with her
Because the birth of power-
Mountain-cracking power is what follows next,
And then you'll see,
That Madam Pain,
Is actually not such a pest!
