Painted Smile Poem by Jennifer Birchall

Painted Smile

Rating: 5.0

You can't see her soul weeping
She paints on a smile with delicate precision
A deep red to match her bleeding heart
Its part of her daily ritual to fool those closest
Doesn't want them to know her deep pain
So you will never hear her cries
Silent tears are saved for her pillow

sad but honest. We're usually blind to the things others go through, especially the difficult things. Penned skillfully and with meaning.

A vivid imagery of pain. Great poem. There are times that we are lost among the crowd and the only way to show our presence is to put a happy face on. A disguise to shield us from others. To shield us from reality.
