Panic Poem by Kelsi Brockway

Panic

Panic
It sweeps upon the mind
in an all consuming flame
burning all rational thought to ash
The salty taste of unbound angst.
Choking the ungagged throat.
Breathing becomes labored
words become lashes
that cut up your throat
You want to tell a friend
To unburden yourself
But your words become screams
They rip you inside out
So scared and alone
Yet afraid to speak up
Like the endless tides that wash upon the shore
Emotions keep slamming you down.
The screech of the gulls
Leaves you choking with envy.
Your tongue rots with all the unspoken words
The words well like tears
Leaking out in a slow steady stream.
They leave you calling for help
but the help never comes
So your left with Panic.
