Paris Attacks - Don't Die Today- Ne Meurent Pas Aujourd'hui - Poem by Bernedita Rosinha Pinto

Don't die today
for that is not what
God nor fate
has written for you;
let no men choose
your end, your departure
from this beautiful world;
guns and bombs
are weapons for wars
not for cities and places
where homes and families
in peace and happiness bustle;
don't die today
don't let anyone destroy
the sanctity of your existence,
let them go find their moorings
if they have to satisfy
their intentions;
your streets belong to you
your tomorrows belong to you
if you have opened your door
to strangers you thought
you could trust
don't face their wrath for that;
don't let them shoot you, kill you
or make you live in fear
for yours is a life blessed by God,
no betrayer should take it away,
and dis-regard your kindness;
don't die today
close the gates of fear
let the deceiver find dis-appointment
when his intentions explode
inside his own harness of vengeance;
don't die today
don't give up your right to live full age
for life never returns once lost.

May all countries be brave who have to face sudden terrorist attacks because of their trust in humanity which rebounded on their serene existence.
