Pass It On, Pass On Poem by Paul Sebastian

Pass It On, Pass On

Living in love we taught love
Kisses, touch and hugs we gave
Respect and honour they learned
Good home values we planted
Obedience was not compromised
Responsibility was taught
Saw their homework done
Saw they did well in school
Saw them grow our own childhood
Said Jack Robinson: They had grown!

They went to college, thought on their own
Teens insisted they had grown
Told us we had not grown: old-fashioned
They lived lives, a world of their own
Family time’s was scarce: quiet home
We feared what was to come: being alone
Time’s fast passing, we were passing!

They became career minded
Fell in love and got married
They began families of their own
Repeated all that we had done!
Had seen them emulating us: was celebration!
Yesterday’s kids had become today’s parents
Having had passed it on, we must pass on!

It was love sacrificed for loved ones
Lives lived worthwhile for others
We live on in the lives of loved ones
Let’s pass on, having had passed on!
