Patiently Waiting Poem by Randy McClave

Patiently Waiting

One day your love will finally come along
After years of sin and pain and doing wrong,
They will say they have been looking and searching and dating
While you have been there hoping and patiently waiting.
They will tell you of the heartaches that they've been through
And all of the abuses that they endured and suffered too,
And all of the lies and the broken promises that they heard
Which even outnumbered the trees and the birds.
They will tell you of all the dreams and desires that they once had
That made them feel very joyful and glad,
But, then they will say after a thought and a tear
That all those dreams and promises not once ever did appear.
They will then ask you where in their lifetime have you been
As they have never seen or heard of you with a grin,
And you will anxiously tell them this one honest truth
That you have been here, their entire youth.
All those dreams that you had they were mine to give
A happy life with me you were promised to live,
Never would you had been abused and not one sad tear would you had wept
Because, every single promise I would had kept.
While you took the road of freedom, licentiousness and unrestraint
I was being faithful and honest and true as a saint,
And while your soul and the world you was continually investigating
I was here alone sitting, and patiently waiting.
