A pen or pencil can't break a bone
But, importantly they can write,
They can inspire others to stand and fight
And they can cause the mighty to groan.
They can create a feeling with just one word
From a sentence that can be read,
To enemies or foes they'll bring worries and dread
Truth and justice will be read and heard.
A pen or pencil cannot murder or kill
They write words for others to seek,
They destroy the powerful and toughen the weak
And they rescue and strengthen and heal.
God didn't have a sword or a gun as a utensil
They were not at his side when he spoke,
And when God gave us our laws, our yoke
His commandments were written with pen or pencil.
