Perspective Poem by Perry Biggerstaff

Perspective

Rating: 5.0

I wanted to sing a song of praise, so I sat down and wrote,
a song that glorified my Christ in every word and note.
I spent so much time in word and rhyme, that I almost got in wrong...
I almost lost my Savior in the song.

I wanted to build a place to pray, where Christian souls could meet,
a church filled with the Spirits touch, a sweet, solemn retreat.
I planned so much and worked so hard in every brick I stacked,
I somehow lost my joy within the act.

I wanted to share the redeemers love and preach salvations plan,
to let a lost and sinful world know that Jesus died for man.
I placed myself above those sins, and to myself I lied,
and lost the message in my foolish pride

I want to give my heart to God, to step out on the limb.
To put my sinful pride aside and define myself through Him.
Why is it so hard to truly let my Savior take control?
To live for Him with Heart...and Mind...and Soul.

God wants my obedience... but first he wants my heart.
God wants me to share his love...but first I have to start,
to reflect upon my motives and the plan He has for me....
To never lose the view from Calvary.
