Reflecting…
on the man that I've become
battles lost and won...through tears and sweat
Reflecting…
on times I lost my way
things I couldn't say...and now regret
There was a time
I wasn't mine
allowed myself to be definded
by an angry tongue
by the very one
I was protecting
But half a life is no life at all
small minds want to keep you small
I found strength
and now find myself
…reflecting,
Reflecting…
on the life that I now live
able to forgive...and find release
Reflecting…
that I call my dreams my own
Never have I known this depth of peace
I'm...just...reflecting
Reflecting… on the life that I now live able to forgive and find release Reflecting… that I now call my dreams my own I have never know such love and peace..forgiving and forgetting brings peace and joy in ones life....... a great poem with a sublime theme. thank you dear poet. tony
It takes a long while to know what you want and also not want in life, climbing many mountains. It is a great stage to be at. Thank You

You have just written The Book of Life in this poem. Oh, how it hurts our hearts, our souls, to think back and relive our awful, inexcusable, hateful, moments that we wish we could outrun. Yet since we cannot escape the frailties we've built into ourselves, it is our redemption that there is forgiveness. The hardest thing to do though is forgive ourselves, we can find it in us to forgive others for a multitude of wrongs without a whole lot of difficulty [except for a few of the violent offenses- those are hard to forgive]. But we crucify ourselves.... until we forgive ourselves and isn't it peaceful to then reflect how life can be so full of good, how we can be so full of good, how we are not defined by the wrongs we have done but by the wrongs we have cast out of our lives. Great piece. a 10 on the scale provided.
