Phil And Lee Poem by Jim Yerman

Phil And Lee

I use to wish for fame and fortune...you know how that goes...
Until I met a man named Phil...who gave his wife a rose.

A single rose to signify the love...he had for his wife Lee,
And every year he'd add a rose...on their anniversary.

I saw those roses when I last saw Phil...he was sick...barely alive...
Holding Lee's hand he smiled and said..."This year...it's 65! "

Fame and fortune can be fleeting...and not all they're cracked up to be...
So now I wish for a life filled with roses...and a love like Phil and Lee.
