Piltdown Man Poem by Ima Ryma

Piltdown Man

Charles Dawson became famous for
Discovering the missing link
Between humans and apes of yore.
But now he's famous for hoodwink.
At Piltdown pit, a skull he 'found, '
That got renowned as 'Piltdown Man.'
But really chimpanzee teeth ground
With the jaw of orangutan,
Stuck in a human jaw to fool
The world for decades as a hoax.
This only goes to prove the rule -
Tiz not too hard to fool 'smart' folks.

Inside of Dawson's skull there be
The thought of prize skullduggery.
