Pity Partyers Coming In From Everywhere Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Whose pity is this party for?
If this is an invitational event,
I will not be attending.
I realize many I am acquainted with,
Will be there.
And from what I understand...
There is an attempt to make this an annual affair?
With pity partyers coming in from everywhere?
I think my temperment might offend.
And I am feeling too 'up' to be 'down' this weekend.
And I am not prepared to defend my nonconformity.
Or how it all began.
