Pity Verses Doubt. Poem by Geoffrey Fafard

Pity Verses Doubt.

Away the boundaries of limitation
Away the regret of ineptitude
Away the mindless fermentation
That accompanies a self piteous attitude
- - - -
Transience is the trademark of traitors
That mainly to themselves are untrue
Tragically accompanied by sad favours
Granted too often by me and you
- - - -
They leap off the cliffs of melancholy
They lunge at the sea of faint hope
They despair at the books of their folly
It was them that the authors wrote
- - - -
Now hope remains only yours alone
Never mind the safety of your doubt
Now momentarily vacate your minds home
And speed to from where cometh the shout
- - - -
If I could but use my wings hidden
If I could summon the courage to fly
If I were not so weakly stricken
I would accompany you should you try
