Playing With Fire Poem by Cooper Gilliland

Playing With Fire

Rating: 5.0

The pagan fire 'round burns bright,
Driving back the dark, chill night,
Writhing with demonic light,
Prepare the sacrificial right.

Bodies cavorting and twisting,
Fingers of flame stretching and reaching,
To singe the devils dancing,
Dancing on the pyre burning in the night.

In agony the bodies writhe
Around the circle, movements lithe
Faces upturned, smiles blithe
Their blazing eyes look so alive.

Draconian fire rages loud
Removed is its protective shroud
Burns to ash the chanting crowd
Then sinks to coals; seeming proud.
