361. What is the use of possessing clouds crawling
palace, well-protected with burning lamps
giving light? If the wife is not honorable
it is nothing but a rare to find jungle.

362. If the little speaking women are kept
in an impregnable prison, when they are
prone to fall from chastity, their chaste lifetime
is the brief but unchaste lifetime, long.

363. Death is she who swears at her husband. She who
fires not the hearth in the morn, a deadly plague;
and she who serves not the cooked food, a live ghost.
These three are the fatal arms ‘gainst their husbands.

364. Pay not heed to the wise to discard
domestic life. Hear the din of the married,
yet you want to marry for joy and safety.
It is to lift a stone and drop on your head.

365. Life of renunciation is supreme.
Living with the wife at home is middle.
Being hopeless of money, going behind
those who reproach, to beg is the final.

366. The chief of all spends the lifetime in learning.
The middle-class pass time eating healthy things.
‘Not to eat mouthful and not to get large wealth'
are the cares to make the last starve and sleepless.

367. O, Chief of the fertile fields of paddy crops!
The green saplings from the paddy seeds grow
into paddy crops and yield paddy seeds.
Know that the father's wisdom is the son's.

368. The rich and the wise derail into the whores
and their illicit sons and wretches reach
the peak in life, as the handle of
the umbrella turned upside down.

269. O, Chief of the hill tracts where the streams bring down
the Emerald stones! They had better jump down
the hills when they hope not of wiping out
the known worries of friends and the kindred.

270. The fresh stream and the link with the ear-lobed whore
don't differ if we pondered o'er them in calm.
The stream dries up if rain ceases, and the love
of the whore stops when the revenue flops.
