Poetree: Tree Love © Poem by Roann Mendriq

Poetree: Tree Love ©

I stepped into a brand new world
Where loving limbs around me curled;
Old inhibitions flung far away,
I chose to have my own sweet way;
To climb according to my will,
To reach the top, the pinnacle!
There, I paused and caught my breath,
Laughing wildly, cheating death;
I loved the air there at the top,
Though I thought my heart would stop!
I smiled and closed my sleepy eyes
and shed my weary soul's disguise;
To let the breezes kiss my face
I revelled in that sweet embrace;
Petals in my windblown hair
tangled... flying here and there!
How lovely to be loved and free,
nestled gently in my tree.
