Police - Civilian Ridealong Poem by Raj Dronamraju

Police - Civilian Ridealong

I don't need you to play policeman in my life
Go haunt another human and leave me alone
If you can accept these terms then you can come along with me on a house to house search

I am looking for the power I lost somewhere
You are looking for the power I gave you then took back

We will both be zeroing in on nobodies yelling they are somebody
Selling nothingness that cannot even be given away for free on the black market
What unites citizen and enforcer is our unbending characters, our brick wall personalities

You make anger look so easy
You wear it well and the people will follow
Save your explanations from the open mouthed crowds
Watching us make rounds, wondering how you and I got there

Acknowledge the bondage you and I share and turn it outwards
Tied to this decade and the next and turned into offense
Causing the enemies of tradition to disarm
This is not a waste of time
