Political Landscape Poem by Daniel Bernard Kelleher

Political Landscape

Rating: 5.0

The political landscape is changing
Here in this small country of ours
The uprising won our freedom
Future governments sold it away

Our shame is we allowed it
Undeterred we played along
Politics rife with corruption
Left them not caring carry on

Austerity imposed on the weakest
While Bail Bonds paid out in full
Now they want to charge for water
Under U.N.law is our basic right

A group of community activists
From the rebel county of Cork
Started a peaceful movement
To regain our dignity and pride

Elections only three months away
Politicians telling us, all is well
Time is fast running out for them
At least half will lose their seats
