Practicing To Imitate Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Practicing To Imitate

Giving advice,
Yet reluctant to take it.
From those who have experienced,
The same mistakes to make.
Is one placed to charade,
An image of leadership.
Only publicly to display.
But a credibility takes more than image.
And losing this to become disrespected,
How can it be...
Someone like this still disbelieves,
Their posturing of an arrogance...
Is not enough to leave the people,
Satisfied and pleased...
With a performance,
Lacking in integrity, discipline and competence!

"I just can not understand or comprehend,
What it is expected of me.
After the time I spend,
Everyday and for hours...
Practicing to imitate,
That difference made they claim...
The last leader had been unable to project.
Although accepted is my ability,
To demean and mock their imperfections!
I just can not understand,
What it is they wish I seem to miss."
