Prayers To Nowhere Poem by Rehan Hyder

Prayers To Nowhere

Be my deep sleep dream
Don’t begin, never end
Don’t linger on through
My mornings to fade
By noon
But stay
In my forgetfulness
Never to perish
But to nourish
A reason to go on,
And nurture a hope
To hold on
to higher dreams

I read this about six times... and I think it was somewhere between read number two and three that I felt the full weight of it plunge into me. I'd tell any reader of any poem to stay with it long enough to feel it, to know it - even if to know it is to hate it, to feel nothing but disgust for having been as far inside it as a reader can get. There are some poems though, that merit wallowing for the passion embedded in them and the glorious feeling that comes of haven gotten a bit closer to it. This piece is one of those - it is like a rose, in the dark, waiting to bloom. Write on, Rehan - I do so like what you do with words. Christine
