Praying Boy Poem by Colin Ian Jeffery

Praying Boy

Boy kneels, sincere and earnest beside his bed
Heart brimming with love and sorrow
Hands clasped in prayer, eyes closed
Whispering, he thanks God for his blessings
Loving parents and siblings, teachers and classmates
Best friend Fido the dog with joyful wagging tail.
Tells tearfully of his sick grandma dying in a hospice
So soon to leave her loving family
Courageously facing her final days.
He asks for her to be received into Heaven
There dwelling among angels and cherubims
Surrounded with God's eternal love and light
Knowing he will never forget his beloved Nana
And all the joy and the happiness she gave.
