Prelude, After Debussy

I would wrap with gauze of clouds
The Lord God said
The wounds that will not stop weeping
Just sleep the time away fall out of consciousness
Into the best of dreams as if you were suddenly snowing
And compose
The rest beyond all dreams of tenderness
And lullabies will sway the trees
In your half fitful dreams and the lily moon
And kick the covers off the skies
And be comforted my child my child
In the cruel crib of the earth
By the angelic song of all the flowers
Rising and falling around you.
