Prisoner Of Poem by Mehta Hasmukh Amathaal

Prisoner Of

Prisoner of

It reminds me of glorious queen
She was Rezia sultana but very keen
To rule the kingdom for the benefit of people
Who looked towards her for the struggle?

The jealous courtesans always plotted to kill
But she had strong will
She remained always prisoner
And took precautions later

Her marriage with trusted chieftain
Always remained
Thaw in relation
She always feared death on

The person always creates
Barricades
Around and remains cautious
But death always takes over

Life becomes mechanical
And that is unkind of an individual
What is kingdom worth?
If you are unable to breathe

You are prisoner of your own thought
And here you are caught
Longs for peace
But it is eluded and life is not at an ease

Rezia Sultana; Female ruler in mediaval India
