'Promises' Poem by Linda Winchell

'Promises'

If you make a promise, keep it!
If just only making it to yourself!
Don't let promises in your life
Fade and wither on the vine
Bottled feelings of un-kept promises
On some dusty cellar shelf!

If you say to someone you will call them
Then see that it is just what you do!
Or if you say, 'I understand, I'm going to pray'
Then by all means pray, PLEASE do!

A promise is something given to another
It's a piece of that person you really are.
And if you're going to give it to someone
You'll be held to it by far.
'That's a promise! '
