Proving For Others Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Proving For Others

What is success?
That to debate,
Will always be left...
To perception.

However...
No one should do less.
Than the best they can.
Regardless of what,
Has been handed to them.
Or not.

Whether they have riches.
Whether they were born,
With two rocks to knock together.
In a palace or a cardboard box.
A doing one's best,
To know they were blessed...
With breath to breathe.
Experiencing life to live.
Should give anyone motivation,
Proving for others.
And not for themselves.
This they can do.

Without being selfish or self serving.
Leaving that debate,
Left for those with nothing else to prove...
But what they've got.
To compare to the have nots!
Done to perceive will leave others jealous!
And them left to feel successful about it.
