Purpose Poem Poem by Dhristi Tandon MNSR

Purpose Poem

Rating: 5.0

What has the world come to?
I look around and all I see is anger, terrorism, racism, sexism
Bullies everywhere, people judged on what they wear
I wonder why, why people are discriminated upon their race, or gender, so what if someone comes from a different background, or has a "different" color.
Why are we taught to hate and judge others, no one is born with this hatred
Can't we walk on the streets without having the fear of being killed, or robbed?
Look around, we live in such a filthy world, where the poor and the rich, girls and boys, whites and blacks, are all treated different, can't we, for once accept each other's differences and move along as a group
I wonder why, why people are discriminated upon their race, or gender, so what if someone comes from a different background, or has a "different" color.
I am ashamed to be living in this world, it is awfully heartbreaking
It's unfortunate that we are the ones who hate, and discriminate
Gun shootings, wars, what has the world come to?
The innocent ones are being tied, put behind bars, killed, tortured, if only we could actually open our eyes, what sort of a filthy world do we live in?
We live in a world of merciless, greedy power, and terror
Every soul has a right to live, whether, girl or boy, white or black, we all should be treated equally
Why are we taught the wrong thing?
I despair upon this miserable world, we should all be attached by a thread, this thread known as humanity, something that unites us all
You the funny thing is that us, us "humans", are the ones who treat other "humans" in the wrong way, we all are just PEOPLE, why to be treated differently
I wonder why, why people are discriminated upon their race, or gender, so what if someone comes from a different background, or has a "different" color
Look around, What has the world come to?

An insightful depiction of the ills of the world - man inhumanity to man, well articulated and nicely penned in good diction with conviction. Beautiful poem with a clarion call for universal brotherhood of man. Thanks for sharing Tandon.
