Push Up To Do It Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Push Up To Do It

Push up to do it,
In view from gutters too.
Come so many at once to do,
To expose a stench.
Hoping to cover,
With a spraying of perfume.
And stinking more than ever before.
Knowing not the smell they've got,
No longer attracts the rats.
Or other creatures,
Behind them impressively dressed.
Push up to do it,
In view from gutters...
Those who observe this now believe,
It does not take intelligence...
To obtain status, prominence.
And qualities like these to reach to the top.
No!
An expertise in being sleazy,
Seems these days to be...
The only required qualification one needs.

The lower the gutter.
The higher the rise!
