Quitting Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Quitting

Quit it.
That routine proving no benefit.
Stop to quit it.
A wish to get.
That gift.
Then received with ease,
To give away.
With it missed to wish,
Its return to get.
Quit it.
Unsatisfying feelings kept.
To not take a step forward.
Fearing there may be some regret.
Quit it.
Any commitment made to others.
Showing to prove,
Commitment is not what they do.
Quit sitting to not admit it.
You are not that kind to quit.
Although those days do to you come,
When quitting to do it...
Seems so easy to do when it's done.
But the routine of it said,
Has become an addicting habit.
A habit wished to quit.
But too reliable to depend upon.
And not that easy just to do.
Especially,
If one remains seeking to be convinced.
That a quitting to be done,
Is a start that ends.
What has been too long in need,
Of a new beginning.
