Quitting Poem by Brandi Guthrie

Quitting

Rating: 4.5

Pill number one: for the nightmares I can`t escape.
Pill number two: for the self loathe and hate.
Pill number three: for the hauntingly brutal rape.
Pill number four: for the way I`m regarded by fate.
Pill number five: for all the times I`ve been held down.
Pill number six: for the ugly face in my reflection.
Pill number seven: for this infectious doubt.
Pill number eight: for the atrocious rejection.
Pill number nine: for the painful silent seconds.
Pill number ten: for the decisions made for me.
Pill number eleven: for the running when I`m beckoned.
Pill number twelve: for the longing to be free.
Pill number thirteen: for what I never could say.
Pill number fourteen: for the grief in my head.
Pill number fifteen: for the tears at the end of each day.
Pill number sixteen: for ever even trying to get out of bed.
Pill number seventeen: These letters squirm like snakes.
Pill number eighteen: My mind is shutting down.
Pill number nineteen: The room is starting to shake.
Pill number twenty: I`m lying on the ground.

Whoa Brandi.... This is very hard hitting and you can feel the pressure build with each pill... like bullet points they highlight the self-loathing and hate that breeds within and threatens to overcome you and make you cry, makes you fall over and not want to do anything but curl up into a ball and be left alone. I won't let you though... I am holding you tight telling you that you are a dear friend even from so far away... never give up, do not let your inscape devour, deform or dsitort the reality of the world... beauty comes from within also, makes that lovely red hair of yours stand out bold with its beauty and unique contrast... as does this poem. I could only ever overdose on your poetry because it is that good. Just don't let go of the world too much in the mean time! Pill Twenty One.... waking up with family and friendly faces around you, patting your hand, hugging you and wish you well... Dale :)
