Rainbow Of Tears - Poem by Joan Paterson

When next dark clouds descend on you and tears begin to flow,
Remember always, they are there because you loved me so.
Those precious tears, those salty gems, each one a cherished jewel.
Are gathered by my angel friends for rainbows crystal fuel
And had you loved me not so well, nor cared for me so fine,
Few tears would you have shed for me, to make a rainbow mine.
I cannot ask you not to weep, for I'd have wept for you
But go and be and do for me, what I'd have done for you

Lay pure white lilies at my head, next to my love's red rose;
And feel my breath upon your face, when the west wind blows.
Look to the Firth of Cromarty, flowing by at my feet,
There you'll see my rainbow, where fields of gold and ocean meet.
Be still, until the dark clouds pass and sun comes shining through;
Be dazzled then! when heaven's hues cascade from out the blue.
I cannot ask you not to weep, for I'd have wept for you
But go and be and do for me, what I'd have done for you

Go away on a summer's day; bathe in the sea and sun.
Walk barefoot in the salty sands and race the waves for fun.
Sleep on the shores of blue green seas and drift off into flight,
Talk to the gazing yellow moon through crazy orange light.
Follow the seagulls' cries, to faraway indigo skies,
Where, on a far horizon, the pink from my rainbow lies.
I cannot ask you not to weep, for I'd have wept for you
But go and be and do for me, what I'd have done for you

Make for me a bonny garden, filled with fragrant flowers.
Make it be your heaven on earth, to spend your sacred hours.
Grow violets sweet and daisies neat, for all my friends to see;
And tend it too, with loving care, the way you cared for me
Paradise has many gardens; all flourish in God's Grace
And I will be beyond...in yours, your breath upon my face.
I cannot ask you not to weep, for I'd have wept for you
But go and be and do for me, what I'd have done for you
