Raison D’être Poem by Brandi Guthrie

Raison D’être

Rating: 4.5

I can`t breathe when you are away.
The air gets sucked right from my day.
I feel as though my heart is sinking,
As I lose the need for rational thinking.
The end of my world is crashing down,
Subdued and sore and without a sound.
It doesn`t matter how long you`re gone,
A minute without you still weighs a ton.
I know where you are but I can`t reach
That fatale kiss of a promise so sweet.
You are the very purpose for everything.
A reason for nature to thrive in the spring.
My one motive behind getting out of bed
Rare moments of amazement left in your stead.
My heart is stripped down to this one goal
To forever intermingle within your soul.

Brandi this one is straight from the heart, and really plucks the lyre strings that are attached to my heart. Such loving care and thoughts from you here, a dedication to your loved one... giving you the urge to rise from not only your bed but from obscurity. The flow of this poem is also superb as is the rhyming scheme, and as you recite it.. it really does roll from the tongue in fluidic streams. Very well worded and constructed, but the emotion and drive you have put in this one make it the most stand out one. So let that special goal in your heart lead you to new horizons and better things. Great stuff Brandi! Dale :)
