there is a grey haired old woman
whom I once knew at school who
recently read one of my poems once...
then preceded uninvited to tell
me for over fifteen minutes what
sort of poetry I the poet wrote...
this ranting I found rather amazing
considering I had already imagination written
several thousand four thousand plus poems...
this grey haired old woman all knowing
had read only one yes she can lecture for hours
how she used to teach poetry at Shirley Boys
High yes the same one who thought
the poem 'Un To Us' by Spike Milligan
was about a bat not abortion?
actually an anti-abortion poem no less
not about a bat in a cave at all 'Oh my God'!
gasp how sorry we feel for her students
failing national examinations
due to her ranting orations
a poetry test is not learning titles...
who wrote which poems
elements of poetry embraces
exciting fascinating features...
limitless potential word plays
overall an appreciation love for poetry
grey haired old woman said none...
of my poems were exciting
I found that one poem she read exciting
so much hidden in mist behind words
over the hill told
me so she should
be a critic not
decrepit scary thought
she is in years younger
than me but I welcome
parting years passing learning...

Oh my :) what a precious concern for the state of poetry you had to face!
