Sometimes words can be daunting,
other times they're just plain haunting.
Some words are loosely used,
yet you KNOW they could NEVER apply to you.
DRUGED, RAPED, ABUSED:
You hear these phrases used,
in a nightmare since, or on the news,
but you don’t think about them twice
because it could NEVER happen to you.
At least that’s how I always was,
naive and unaware
that I'd end up alone and scared,
because I wasn't as invincible as I'd once thought
and for my actions I got caught up in a situation
where I was victimized by his expectation.
To be alone with someone you think you know,
as he slips you a drug to help him show
the thing he want from you the most,
you lose consciousness with a strong since of morose.
5 hours later,
when you awake
you don't know what happened but your body does more than ache.
You're naked next to someone you had considered a friend,
wanting nothing more than the truth to bend.
To wake up in your own bed,
with nothing but a memory of a scary nightmare in your head.
The visit to the hospital a blur,
as a rape kit is done
strong emotions begin to occur.
all you are sure of is that you want to run.
Run,
far away
to a place in your life that was all filled with games to play.
Where life was an excuse for fun.
A place where I always got my way,
and my happiness was dependent on nothing but the sun.
But of course no matter how hard I tried,
i couldn't do anything but look my mother in the eye
and beg her not to cry.
the title caught my eye...im glad i stopped to read this piece...if its autobiographical, i offer you my love and support..and if its a work of art i praise you heartily for having come up with something so passionately heartrending...God bless.
A very well written poem and so sad but it happens everyday. I thought murder happened to other people till my aunt was murdered. I hope this wasn't about you. I give this a 10. Hugs, Donna

Although this piece is dark, it carries a deep meaning (actually, dark pieces often do) . Anyway, good job!
