Rarer Than Rare Poem by Francis Duggan

Rarer Than Rare

There are many good people generous caring and kind
But the perfect human being may not be there to find
At least such a person I have yet to meet
Though many good people live on every street
I've sometimes heard one referred to as a living saint
But such a person should be free of any flaw or taint
And does such a person exist I for one cannot say
Though I do meet good people and quite a few every day
The dead saints the religious living do celebrate
And between a saint and a good person the difference is great
A saint is one perfect in every way
And 'tis only to a saint that the living do pray
The good they are many and with others they share
But as for living saints they are rarer than rare.
